I have been collecting dice ever since the 8th grade. I got my first real set (20-sided, 12-sided, 10-sided, 8-sided, 6-sided, and 4-sided) from my friend Kris Hiebert as a gift. They were completely clear (no color at all) with black numbers. I was so enamored with the dice that I began collecting them. No die was safe. I quickly confiscated the dice from old board games we had lying around but never played. I even cracked open a Trouble boardgame to get the little wooden dice in the popper. Little by little, my collection grew.
My dice collecting slowed down a bit for the past few years, but has recently started up again (thanks to a little visit to a local gaming store, ie. Pendragon). I estimate that my current collection contains at least 400 or 500 individual dice, 1/4 of which are probably plain old red or white board game dice. However, I do have a few rare and interesting dice...
Here are a few photos of dice in my collection. I tried to scan my dice directly by placing them in my flatbed scanner, so the images aren't the greatest (but they turned out a lot better than I though they would). Links to more pages containing images of dice in my collection can be found at the bottom. Please note that all the dice images on my site are of the same scale, and on a 14" or 15" screen with 800x600 resolution, every image should be actual size.
Below are the links to my dice galleries. The General Dice Galleries are where you'll see
the widest variety of dice while the Dice Set Galleries showcase complete sets of dice. A few
dice sets are also seen in the General Dice Galleries.
(Throughout the galleries you may see me use terms like 'd6', 'd10', etc. This is a shorthand
for describing quantities and types of dice. For example, '3d6' means 'three six-sided dice' and
'd8' means 'a single 8-sided dice'. And, yes, I know the dots on dice are called 'pips' and not
'dots'.)
