As Kuros, you will encounter countless enemies in your quest to save the princess. Some monsters die with
a mere stroke of your Brightsword, while others are invincible. Beware the creatures which can shoot
fireballs or magic bullets; they can quickly whittle away Kuros' health!
Guardian
This invincible knight demands payment in gems before he allows you to pass.
Fly
These annoyances can be found throughout the first level in the forests of Elrond.
Eagle
There are three types of eagles. The purple ones sit in their nest and shoot fireballs at
you, the red ones swoop around trying to nail you, and the blue ones fly up and down
guarding the two openings in the canopy.
Werewolf
These lycanthropic idiots run after you on the ground and treetops of the first forest
level. The blue ones just run back and forth trying to catch you while the red ones run
up to you, shoot a spiked ball or death bubble, then run away.
Spider
The purple spiders are usually found inside hollowed out trees; they drop down along
threads of spider silk in an attempt to bite you. The red spiders can be found inside
Castle Ironspire where they shoot fireballs at you.
Hornet
Found deep within hollowed out trees, these hornets will swarm around you to defend their
hives
Hornet's Nest
Hornet's nests are indestructible and pump out an endless supply of hornets.
Rock Pillar Beast
These indestructible stalagmitic creatures burst upward from any flat surface in the
Ice Caves. Easy to avoid, but they keep you on your toes. They also make an
appearance in the third cave level.
Jr. Rock Face
These beings live in the cavern walls and shoot fireballs at you. They're not always
so easy to see until after they've shot you.
Baby Vampire Bat
Found only in the Vampire Bat's lair.
Fireball
Found in the Caverns of Fire, these sentient flames chase you around trying to cook
you in your armor.
Firespout
Travels back and forth across the lakes of lava in the Cavernsof Fire. Find the Boots
of Lava Walk and you can ride the firespout across the molten magma.
Red Devil
Flies around and generally tries to make your stay in the Caverns of Fire that much
more unpleasant.
Deadly Bat
These winged rats are a nuisance in the last cavern level. They also make appearances
in several other levels, especially the second Forest of Elrond stage.
Snake
Venom spitting lizards who attempt to impede your progress.
Skull Hive
These are indestructible, bullet spitting skulls which make life miserable. They are
especially numerous in the towers of Castle Ironspire.
Winged Gargoyle
These act in the exact same way that the Eagles do. In fact, if you die (or die and
continue) in the second Forest stage, the graphics of the gargoyles will be replaced
by those of the eagles from the first level (I'm not sure if that's a bug in the game
itself, or in the emulator). They also frequent the innards of Castle Ironspire.
Evil Goblin
Exactly the same as their Werewolf counterparts.
Ant
The outside of Malkil's castle is crawling with these insects!
Acid
The ceiling of Castle Ironspire often drips with caustic liquid.
Evil Ghost
Castle Ironspire is haunted big time by the ghosts of adventurers less fortunate than
you.
Skeleton
Renanimated skeletons throw an endless supply of bones at you inside the castle. As
far as the differences between the two colors go, I think the red ones just throw more
bones.
